If you're familiar with the story of the prodigal son, you'll no doubt see Jack Crowder in the starring role. Like so many musicians, Jack was born into a musical family and got his start playing in church. As you might imagine, the story doesn't end there...

Having a guitarist for a father certainly had an impact on Jack. Learning a few Gospel songs, Jack's first gig was playing a small church with his father and sister. As time went on, Jack began drifting from the safety of the familiar shore. It was to become a voyage into perilous waters aboard a sinking ship.

Moving through various Country and Rock bands, Jack found himself caught up in the fast lane. The days blurred into each other as he lived the high life. Raising the stakes even higher, Jack spent a good deal of time in Europe and played with a German band. Before he knew it, young Mr. Crowder had hit the wall. He was burned out.

What goes up must come down. Such is the case with Jack Crowder. For all the high points of his life, there were equally low ones. On several occasions, he nearly lost that life. Perhaps the lowest of all times were the years spent in prison. But then, when you're on the bottom, there's no place to look but up. And that's exactly what Jack did.

Giving his life back to Jesus, Jack found a renewed sense of purpose and vowed to turn things around. Finding a good Bible based church, he soon found himself playing guitar for the worship team at Crossroads Church. It was there Jack met Tim Stout, which led to joining God's Country Band where he fills the position of rythm guitarist and background vocalist. The prodigal has come home.

Jack's approach to recording is "less is more" and that vocals should always have top priority. He believes that live performances are the best place to let go and have fun. As guitarist for GCB, Jack Crowder plays a Fender Telecaster with Lite Guage strings. He uses a Marshall amp.
